Taking Center Stage.

SRCS offers a variety of music instruction and performance opportunities for students. These include music classes, instrumental music, vocal music, praise band, Christmas musical, talent expo, and visual arts.

Music to Our Ears.

The SRCS music curriculum, entitled Spotlight on Music, is taught either in our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Room or our Music room. The curriculum includes a wide variety of multicultural music supplemented with technology. A pre-band instrument (such as a recorder) is introduced in 3rd grade. Preschool classes enjoy a fun circle time learning songs about God and learning basic musical concepts with the interactive projector technology.

Playing for the Glory.

Band classes begin in 5th grade. Students enrolled in 5th Grade Band meet for sectionals once a week, learning the fundamentals of their given instrument.

Band rehearsals are held twice a week, where students develop the skills to play together as a large group and prepare for concerts. The 5th Grade Band performs at the Music Department Spring Concert. It is a celebration of what they have learned and an opportunity for them to share the joy of music.

Middle School students can participate in the Concert Band. This group build on the fundamentals learned in the 5th Grade Band, developing and refining each student's gifts and talents. They perform several times a year in a variety of settings.

Singing Out Loud.

Elementary students in grades 2 - 4 can choose to participate in the Chapel Choir.  The Chapel Choir rehearses once a week during the students' recess time.  Students perform at various elementary chapels, concerts, and school events.

Chorus is offered to students in 5th grade and middle school.  This group rehearses twice a week and focuses on developing and refining each student's gift and talents.  Students learn about vocal production, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, sight-reading, and more.   The Chorus performs several times a year in a variety of settings.

The Vocal Ensemble is for experienced singers who love to sing in a small group.   This group meets once a week, learning and performing a wide variety of music and music styles.  Members occasionally assist in leading worship in our combined chapels.

 Praise Band

Middle school students can join the Middle School Praise Band, a small group of musicians that focuses on leading praise and worship. This group leads many of our middle school chapels and all-school special events.

Christmas Musical

The Christmas Musical is performed in December as a way to kick off the Christmas season and celebrate the birth of Jesus.  This production features the Grand Chorus, which consists of all 2nd through 4th-grade students and a cast comprised of 3rd through 8th-grade students.

SRCS’s Got Talent.

SRCS students have the opportunity to "let their light shine" and participate in the annual Talent Expo at the end of each school year. Students of all ages perform and the audience enjoys a program of song, dance, musical performances, gymnastics routines, and much more! In the past, we even had a group of creative students perform a "synchronized swimming" routine! Two of our very entertaining staff members emcee the event and bring humor to the show. SRCS staff members also perform a "creative" end-of-year routine.

Divine Works of Art.

SRCS students begin coming to the art room in preschool and continue through middle school.  The beauty of God's creation as seen through God's world is emphasized. Development of skills using a wide variety of art mediums are explored, which include but are not limited to: paints, pencils, pastels, chalks, and 3-dimensional materials.

All projects and procedures for all age groups are designed to stimulate individual creativity in each child in a fun and exciting learning environment.  Student artwork is exhibited in the media center throughout the school year and at special school events.
