Playing for the Glory of God.

Our students excel well beyond the classroom! No matter whether they’re playing on the field or on the court, our students compete at the highest levels in athletics, bringing home championships at every level!

About Our Middle
School Sports Program

Our competitive athletics programs provide another fantastic opportunity for students to hone their leadership skills. At SRCS we believe all students should be part of a team. Therefore, no matter what your child’s athletic experience is, he or she is welcome to play sports. Our teams foster an atmosphere of excellence, teamwork, and personal growth.

The purpose of the Athletic Department of Spanish River Christian School is to advance God’s Kingdom through the use of athletics. We educate the whole person, focusing on spiritual, emotional, academic, and physical training. This department is built on a love for God, His word, and His people. Excellence as defined by Scripture is the standard for leadership, coaching, and competition. The Athletic Department’s dominant attitude is service to the Lord through thought, word, and deed.

We believe some of the greatest opportunities to teach students about advancing His kingdom are found on the athletic fields. Playing on an athletic team can help students work toward a common purpose, develop leadership, and strengthen relationships. Our desire is to develop the spiritual aspect as well as the physical skills of the athlete. Approaching athletics with a Biblical perspective builds good character, regardless of wins or losses. Memories made on the athletic fields can last a lifetime.

Varsity & Junior Varsity

SRCS offers an interscholastic program for our middle school students. Due to the high number of students trying out for each sport, students are divided into varsity and one or more junior varsity teams. At the varsity level, we compete in the Florida Gold Coast League.

The Gold Coast League consists of Middle School athletic programs in Broward and Palm Beach counties that share a similar philosophy about 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade athletics. Middle School is a time when young student-athletes should enjoy their athletic experience and when competition comes secondary to participation. While we do play to win, our purpose is to glorify God.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, a master's degree in Biblical and Theological Studies, and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership.

Riley is married to his wife Amie, and they have three young children - Mariella (7), Elizabeth (5), and Corbin (2). Riley loves all aspects of education but has a special passion for athletics as he spent most of his childhood on a field or in a gymnasium. He loves using athletics as a platform to point students to Christ, help them develop godly character, and train them to compete for the glory of God.

Important Information &
Documentation

Any middle school student who wants to participate in SRCS interscholastic sports must have on file a current (a new one is needed every school year) physical examination documented on the SRCS Student Athletic Health Examination Form. This form is also available in the school or athletic offices. This requirement is in addition to the State of Florida health examination form 3040 required for all seventh graders.
